How Was It Packaged?
The Premium Ceremonial Grade Organic currently comes in the following sizes:
- 30g Tin Can
- 100g Small Bag
- 1lb Small Bag
I bought myself the 30g Tin Can, though I wish I had bought the 1lb size. The can is smaller than I had expected but stored more matcha powder than I thought.
After opening the container, which is double packaged to ensure freshness, you are greeted with a sweet aroma with mixed with a slight hint of a vegetal scent. The matcha green tea powder itself maintains a fairly deep, vibrant green color.
How Did I Prepare It?
Preparing the drink was different from your typical green tea process. There was no tea bag involved, just the powder.
You can screen the matcha powder through a strainer, however I find that there is no need to do so since it doesn’t have any sizable particles and the powder is prepared well.
I simply used a whisk to mix the water and powder and that’s it.
I continued to mix until the concoction reflected a sort of thick consistency.
Did It Taste Good?
The Jade Leaf matcha green tea had a refreshing smell, and the taste was pleasantly sweet. You quickly realize that the quality of the organic Japanese tea is emphasized, after each sip, to the highest and strictest manner.
It tasted great and lacked that bitter taste that is quite common among the lower quality matcha teas.
What Are Others Saying?
“This matcha is delicious. The color is very very vibrant, it smells like matcha-flavored candy right out of the tin. I’d say it’s worth every penny. I was going to experiment purchasing different brands from the many available here on Amazon, but now i’m feeling very tempted to just repurchase this when i run out; which will probably be fairly soon. I’m just not too confident that matcha can get much better than this; especially not at this price for ceremonial grade.” – Lyd
“I have made a few batches of the Matcha tea following the advised portions and both my husband and I LOVE this organic Matcha Green Tea Powder. It doesn’t have a bitter after taste as many other powders I have tried. It comes in a nice tight sealing tin to keep the freshness. Nice breakaway from having a second cup of coffee. I’m very happy it is Organic, and the beautiful green color just invites you to make it the ceremonial way.” – Linda Lee
“With any matcha, you will have “slush” at the bottom, even after whisking and stirring. With Jade Leaf however, I find it mixes really well, and just pouring a little extra water in at the end does the trick. My only hesitation in posting such a positive review is that it will make more people buy it and it may go out of stock again in the near future! 🙂 I do not usually write reviews, but this is such an excellent quality of matcha, I felt compelled to do so.” – R. Simms
“I’ve tried a couple of these now and I am now a matcha fan – great to mix in to any smoothie or as a matcha latte for an energy boost and after consistent use it is obvious that it works as a natural detox for your body as well. Not gritty or grainy, this one is a good choice” – Lara

Jade Leaf Premium Ceremonial Grade Green Tea F.A.Q.
Q: How do I use ceremonial grade?
A: It is meant to be prepared as normal, brewed hot tea. Traditional preparation involves whisking the matcha powder with hot water, rather than using a teabag like normal green tea.
Q: Is there caffeine?
A: Yes, 1g contains about 34mg of caffeine, which equates to 1/3 of a cup of coffee. But, Matcha contains an amino acid called L-Theanine, that has a calming affect that removes the jitters that coffee gives you. You get the caffeine kick but no “wired” feeling.
Q: What is the difference between Ceremonial and Culinary?
A: Ceremonial grades are meant to be used in the classic hot tea and whisked, whereas the Culinary grades are meant for being used as an ingredient in recipes.
Q: Can I use Jade Leaf’s Matcha For More Than Just Consuming?
A: Of course! Matcha can be used for cooking and even skin care. Facial masks are common with green tea. Jade Leaf offers a culinary grade perfect for achieving just that!
